If a driver gets himself fired, why is the boss an ###? Do your job and get paid. Wreck the equipment and walk home! The boss has to protect his investments. Life is harsh, learn the lessons and move on. Deny the lessons and repeat them.

It is ALWAYS the Boss or dispatch or shop manager , yard jockey , fuel island guy , guard dog , ELOGs. Never hear or read a driver admit FAULT in getting fired.

Abandon a company truck and you will probably never drive again.

Company abandons driver in BFE, that's ok. He probably deserved it.

I would say it's a case by case basis. Some real dirtbag driver might deserve to be stranded.

If the driver was a stand-up guy, and did a good job for a long time, help him get home.

Well... take comfort in the fact you were only 60 miles from home. It could have easily been 600 miles. I'm sure you found a way to get back home within a few hours.

I'd just take it as a lesson learned and move on. You worked 4 days for him, so he didn't know you and had no idea what he was getting into keeping you on. Start calling around and get your application out there. You'll find another driving job soon enough.

In this economy... we're all only a "mishap" away from the unemployment line.

Can anyone tell me how to report to DAC some of the drivers who have gotten DUIs and driven trucks hundreds of miles unauthorized and other similar "stuff"?

For starters, the Iowa Better Trucking Bureau DOESN'T exist, that's why I said the OP needs to submit for drug testing.:biggrin_2556:

Get back in a truck and move it AFTER you've been fired, that's Grand Theft. Kiss your driving career goodby after you get out of jail.

Unless you are the business owner, safety director, etc, and a member of HireRight(DAC), you cannot do this.

They do exist, but not a government entity from what I can tell, just a business with no real information other than a phone # and address.
