You seem like a good guy so I’m not wanting to insult you but that’s just not how it works. If all the wages increase so will the cost of all the products to cover the costs created by wage increases thus creating inflation. At that point $15 won’t be enough and they’ll want $25. I’ll say this again for posterity, minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage. You show me someone who has been at minimum wage for an extended period of time and I’ll show you someone who has caused their own problems to keep them there.

I asked earlier and I’ll ask again, if $15 is good why not $30?

General flatbed rates have never been so high. Even adjusted for inflation. They are the same as ever out west though lol. Most of the guys I talk to with their authority are making between 7-9k gross to the truck without really trying too hard. Like 2000 miles a week making 7k. Everyone can hate on the ELD mandate but the reason a lot of those guys are able to even stay in business is that the rates have skyrocketed. A monkey with DOT number and their own equipment could succeed right now.

Bro I'm not even disagreeing with anything any of you are saying...you do speak truth and I am totally educated on the way economics work. I just think about getting the basics covered. It don't take that much but it takes a little more than what is paid..I'd love more money.....just a little, I ain't greedy......just enough to cover my basic needs....and my weekly beer fund :D:D:D

But isn’t it an individuals responsibility to cover the basics? You start out at minimum wage when the basics are small and you build yourself up as the basics increase. If you’re a 20 something at minimum wage that’s your fault.

    Spot on.

When I was 18 I was pulling in an easy grand a week selling suntan oil... Only burgers I flipped were on the BBQ or the two food joints me and the family owned. I’m 53 ;-)

Brother you're right. I'm not disputing that either...there's some folks that make more than minimum wage and it can be difficult. Fact is, we are all in the struggle and in it together.

Now that's another discussion right there. It's so many people trying to live a Porterhouse life on a chopped steak budget
