I rarely do but yes it's legal.

However it may be against company policy depending who you drive for.

And remember if some idiot 4 wheeler doing a 100 mph and had plenty of time to see you and slow down slams into you then you will most likely be found at fault.

It is no different than turning right at a stop sign. You stop, and when its clear you go.

Sometimes it's the only way to make a right turn without the vehicles, coming from the right, stopping in the way when their light turns red.

    Mr.X and Vilhiem Thank this.

Now this is true. Most of the time I dont run into that issue, but that's something that slipped my mind to be said. I practice that in real life, but sometimes you forget to say it.

One of those things you just learn to do automatically.

I do it, but only when conditions are ideal. The whole truck must be able to make the turn and get up to speed before any other traffic catches up... I must have a clear view for a long distance... most times I dont go. But I have done it...but its rare I feel like I can do it safe....
Right on red is NOT permitted in NYC unless there is a sign saying its ok. Alot of places, if there is a red arrow, it also isnt permitted.....

There are a few states that rights on reds are Illigal even for 4 wheelers. I think TN and NYC are two places. Most schools teach you not to for safety reasons. Just use caution.

Well at least I get to switch my Qualcomm to off duty while I wait so you saved me a few ticks on that.

Yes you can turn unless they say you can not. I would turn on red all the time in the city and I was driving an oversize truck at 85' long. I would if it was clear and safe. I'd also make sure I will not be in a bind with traffic on the other side of the road. Not even if there's was only one vehicle there I would impose. I'd come up to the intersection with the truck over as far as it would go with the painted line in the right lane. Come to a complete stop at the line then make sure all points are covered and make the turn. You also want to make sure there will be no vehicles that sneek up on you in the lane across from you. You've also have to watch very closely no idiotic drivers trys to move up on your trailer on the right.
