Yeah, really, what is this all about? As long as I've been trucking, a fronthaul(?) is the money maker, a backhaul gets you back to get another fronthaul. Brokers know this, it's never been any different. :biggrin_25526:
so if someone lives in miami he'll be making his money hauling a load going somewhere else.?no wonder people are going broke and brokers trying to pay 90cpm.god i hate stupid people.

I looked for a synonym for backhaul. And couldn't find one. So it looks like your going to have to stick to using the word backhaul.

I don't discuss my needs with a broker. That's the first mistake. I negotiated my loads separately. The prior load is not there business, neither is the next load.

I agree I don't use the word back haul, It was brought about many years ago to help truckers get used to getting it put to them.

If a loads too cheep it is not going in my trailer. No matter which way it happens to be headed.

backhaul originated with private carriers needing a load back to the factory.

I was one. we hauled new machines to plants and needed a load back to factory.

we were paid either way, but company would like to be paid to return the truck.

if none was found we ran back empty.

Exactly. Why would you EVER use the word backhaul when negotiating a load? But it is a good word, it is a FINE word, to tell you wife, or perhaps co-workers that you found a backhaul to get you home. Or back to where you need to be.

If you are selling used cars, you aren't gonna tell the prospective customer that the car you are trying to sell him is a lemon, are you? Same principle applies.

And yes, I know I likely don't have any right to post in this area, since I've never been a O/O, but some things are just common sense!
