I am planning on starting driving school where I live in Virginia I will be going for 10 weekends starting sept 1 I have with help from the study materials already passed and received my cdl permit. I have spoken with several companies that says they will hire me after being honest with them about my past but I have read and watched a lot of you tube videos that say recruiters will tell you anything I really want to drive. my concern is school will finance me for 7500 with 500 down but I do not want to be on the hook for that if I get my license but cannot get hired here is my situation with my record I have 2 felonies both white collar crimes wire fraud first one was in mid 90s I served 18 months of a 21 month sentence at a ffed camp finished probation all that second one was 2004 served 24 months of a 36 months at a low fed prison I got a year knocked off my sentence for going through a 9 month drug and alcohol program it was a great program I learned so much I have not drank since 2006 I have no desire to what so ever I am really thankful I got into trouble and got locked up to go through the program it sounds crazy but my life was in complete shambles if I had not quit drinking I believe I would be dead or in prison for killing some one but got out finished probation but I also have had duis but they are so old they do not show up on my driving record I got copy off it from dmv I asked them about them and was told they are to old I have told recruiter all this at a lot of companies and only roel said it was a disqualifier with them I have been speaking with knight and love there 7 on 7 off 14 on 7 off but once again I do not want to get stuck with school bill if I will not get hire any advice giving I will greatly appreciate it and do not worry bout hurting my feelings thanks

We all make mistakes. It happens man. Worst case scenario get your cdl on yoir own and go to a russian owned company where they look to hire drivers without judging their past.
    There is companies out there.
Im sure @Chinatown will chime in at some point .

After adjusting your text block so I could even read it. You might try going to a local carrier like the waste hauler or beverage distributor. They are always in need of people. You might not be driving right away, and may have to work into a truck. But take it as a lesson learned.
@Chinatown would have a better idea who could maybe help you. But we would need to know the general area of the country you are in as well. Not the specific city per se, but are you in the North East? FLorida? California? The Deep south? Midwest? North West?

You can forget high value loads in finacial white collar Crimes theft. If it's one thing this industry cannot stand besides drugs and drinking it's high level financial thieving. You already have demonstrated a history of knowing how to play the role of Midas and supplement your pay touching stuff you do not own inside a employer turning it into Gold that is not yours.

You can depend on being dispatched on loads of so little value and endure the disrespect that comes with low value loads like a trailer of potatochips. People will abuse you on the dock financially. YOU will feel preyed upon.

IF 7500 is what tuition costs, then that's what you get started on in debt. YOU CAN however work a year, doing dishes in a long john silvers for example and raise 5000 of that of not the full monty. Trucking will be around a year plus from now. NO hurry. Especailly if you are fixing to learn just enough to do the State Test without hurting or killing people near the DMV and then invest in being trained with a big truck in real world loading in all sorts of weathers, terrain, weights, paperwork etc. That's your real education bought and paid for by you, in blood, sweat, tears and pain.

I wouldn't worry about it. This is a "what have you done for me lately" world. You have stayed out of trouble for over a decade. I'd say you should be able to find work. Congratulations on getting back on track!

In my opinion I dont see your history being a problem as they are pretty old and it sounds like you have things together. A clean driving record and drug screen will go a long way.

Relax, drivers out here have histories that would make your eyes pop out of your head. Back when I left the military the first time I caught a felony, this was in 98' come 2001 my felony doesn't matter to the Army and went on to retire. I got into trucking there was no problem with my felony. It was a financial as well.
