Can you be too honest?

Before going into trucking, you may want to get into the absolute best physical shape possible to both help get and keep your blood pressure and sugar levels at healthy levels, along with cholesterol, triglycerides, and other aspects of your body. Getting yourself into the absolute best physical shape will also help rid your body of all toxins, both legal and illegal. Also try to get as much information on nutrition as possible and put it to use while going on this physical fitness regiment.

All this should be in a minimum time span of approximately 3 to 5 years. It may sound like a lot of time, but it really isn't. You need to thoroughly cleanse your body of everything to comply with both trucking company and D.O.T. physical fitness and health standards. In the mean time, learn as much about the trucking business as possible. As the years go by, the standards and restrictions are getting tighter and tighter.

NOTE:
If you do smoke, (tobacco), or drink, (alcoholic beverages), it would not be a bad idea to give those up also, especially the alcohol. This way you will NOT have to worry about any DUI's or DWI's.

I currently work retail. I have worked in gas stations, convenience stores, supermarkets, and retail outlets. Every last one these places tested for drugs, both upon hiring and various random tests after being hired, regardless of how many years you worked there. The employees who tested positive for drugs inside their systems were EITHER NOT HIRED OR WERE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED from their jobs.

Many years ago, when I was active duty in the U.S. Navy, drugs would get you IMMEDIATELY discharged with a less than an honorable discharge.

MOST of the employers in the U.S.A. do NOT tolerate or accept drug usage by their employees.

First off, im coming up on 2 years.

Secondly, I've been drug free my whole life throughout all my non trucking careers. Why does trucking experience have anything to do with not wanting a potential druggie on the road? I just bought my own truck and i don't want her hitting it.

 

There are tons of jobs where they just don't care. This is all the more reason not to use drugs in the first place. In any case, I'd rather him work retail for some junky company that doesn't drug test then drive a truck. My sister has a decent carrer and hasn't been drug tested.

 

Dude get off your high horse!....really who cares what you think. I mean ..really?.. He smokes a little weed and you call him a druggie? That depends on what state you live in now doesn't it? I bet you take time off and hit the bottle? iMOP, nothing different except if you decide to drive stoned instead of drunk you are not going to drive off the road and kill someone. I don't smoke,but if you can drink off duty you should be able to smoke off duty. I took your post to be way too harsh on the op.
