IMG_0767.JPG I've got this stubborn coolant leak that I've been fixing and dealing with for about 3 years. **picture attached, blue hose**

I'll fix it and it'll be fine for months maybe a year then slowly it'll start back seeping and weeping just a bit. I just put this new hose on and three days later it's seeping a bit. -it's a bad design to me, the spot where the hose attaches to the T fitting is THREADED: so I'm clamping a hose onto threads.

Because of this I think it never really gets the seal it needs.

    OK NOW TO THE QUESTION:

Can I do away with the T and just simply build a union connection to go straight through, Ditch the T fitting completely? Since I've owned this truck I've never really used the bunk heat or air. I have a tri PAC and a bunk heater

No reason you can't do away with it or get the correct hose nipple & put it on.

Yes, you just need a hose barb, you can't just clamp onto threads. Get a bard that threads into the existing threads.

The clamp on the black hose is too large for the hose and the nipple, or the nipple is too small. If you have to tighten the clamps so much to get a seal that they are damaging the hose, then something is not right.

    Rideandrepair and HopeOverMope Thank this.

I called my fitting store, could you tell by looking it: what type of thread that may be? I know it's not JIC

It looks to be aftermarket when the apu was installed

Makes since. I need to get some hose barbs like uncleal13 said

Then it would actually have a good surface to mate with

They look like standard pipe thread from the picture.

Thanks, I'd rather try and keep it because I know it kind of acts as a second radiatior or sorts to help keep the water cool.

I know it's probably a "duh" moment, just didn't want to bypass it and mess up that core back there etc

The answer to "Can I bypass the sleeper heater core?" is yes, if you have the shutoff valves on the engine. Most do.

Trace your lines from the sleeper to the front and rear of the engine block and shut those two valves off.
