Yeah it is fairly easy to shut 'em off constantly, Fairly easy to be replaced when someone's unit seems to malfunction two to three times a week
I did have mine do something interesting. Last wednesday I took off and drove 4 hours, stopped fueled and drove 3 more to my drop when I noticed it had not recorded any mileage for the day so far. In fact it had left me as on duty since fueling(my fault never having changed lines and relying on it to autoswitch when moving).
Pulled the power for a couple minutes and edited in notes where I changed that to driving and placed best guess mileage in the notes. I did call the office and tried to have them make the changes bu they couldn't do anything I hadn't. Talking with Suzanne (your counterpart) she sadi she can only alter lines 1-2. To alter lines 3-4 she has to use an administrative code wich is kept along with the change, and original log status so any changes found during an audit they know who to see about those changes. Here she or Kelvin( her boss) are the only ones allowed to even log into the elog system.
Can you cheat an eLog?

Man Talking about cheating logs blatantly on here! That's like telling the boss to go to he!!. they read these all of the time people.
-
I probably won't rat myself out. Its natural for people to push the limits and try new things. Disabling the GPS or the entire EOBR doesn't do much for you. It just allows you to create a paper log that is going to be overly scrutinized in a DOT audit.
-
You can lead an e-log to cheating, but you can't make it think.
lostNfound Thanks this. -
Since the beginning of time, man has cheated on whatever man has wanted to cheat on. Elogs will be no different.

So we shouldn't use improving technology because liars will always continue to be dishonest? So should we just quit registering speeding tickets because hell illiterate people will refuse to educate themselves?
Maybe we should quit suspending drunks licenses when they get caught. I mean they are not gonna stop drinking right?ECU51 Thanks this. -
Not sure that one matters...how many of 'em end up with their (insert obscenely high number here) conviction, only to be out in the world on wheels again? -
Oh I agree. They let people with a proven track record of selfish and dangerous behavior stick around or come back far to often.
How many people would speed if it automatically meant a two year suspension upon conviction? No plea's or bargains, if you fight it in court you are either found guilty or not of the cited infraction. Betcha the illiterate would learn to read real quick.
People whom recieve their first conviction of DUI SHOULD BE DONE FOR A MINIMUM TEN YEARS. Maybe peddling a bike back and forth to work would temper that need to dilute their mind and get behind the wheel. Second lifetime banishment. Once is just being ignorant, the second offense is just like the petulent attitudes on here saying" they can not tell me what to do".
But it is this attitude nobodies perfect so why bother to try that must be abolished.Or the attitude of everbody lies so to keep up all others must as well.
Both those notions are spouted by those to lazy, ignorant, or childish to be operating in adult society. -
i guess elog is prematur for our time, is a reall error for now, the infrastructure, shippers, cops, dispatcehs... are nit ready for .

The industry doesnt have to run illegal. My company has not changed but with a little planning our drivers are turning the same loads and miles as before.
