The larger companies use O/O to pull their trailers. That way the companies
enjoy all the benefits with virtually no vehicle cost. The O/O has the most invested and the most to loss. So there is still more independents out there than back in 1979. Just think about it? I think all 100 of the biggest trucking companies have O/O's. More sizeable than you may think.
A strike nowdays would take effect lots quicker stores would run out of bread in a few days and gas would go about as quick. Todays society is only interested in instant gratifacation and the me,me me attitude.
It would work better now than it did then.

We really need a union like the teamsters except for independents and O/O's to bring about change for our benefit. Groups like nta and ooida really don't have our best intrest at heart, especially nta. what ever happens they going to make a profit out of it.

Gotta love the irrational thought process' applied by people. You do have the ability to strike, against any body you wish. Hell you can strike against the FMCSA. Quit paying your HVUT, return your authority and tell them" I am on strike!". I'm sure they will be duelly impressed.

If you don't know how a strike is organized you get everyone together and decide you want to strike and why. Then you sit at home or some other place of protest. Watch TV some and see how it's done in europe.

I don't like the whole system. Rules that contradict each other, useless regulations with no purpose other than to try and rake in money.
No oversight and virtually no recourse on the ones selected to enforce this system. More fees and taxes heaped upon taxes and fees we now pay.
A set of regulations the average person mostly don't understand, with enforcement by those whos only goal is to collect money and look busy. I call and every broker I talk with I ask them have they contacted their represenative about this. The whole system needs rolling back the interstate commerce clause needs to be cut back to it's original intent by the founding fathers. Rules need to be few, fair , easy to understand and the same coast to coast. Penalties (there are none now) for officers and officals abusing power and other illegal acts should be super severe, like life without parole or even public execution(the chinnese do it)

If you want to strike why not do it? I know your waiting for that bid lawsuit payday to support your person. But hey maybe if you devoted half the time you invest in instigating trouble on the interstates into finding your slip and fall victim your dreams could be realized.

I have just pointed out that when you give goverenment a inch they'll take a mile. You try and minimize what all this is about, it's about more control, they can yank your leash and you can roll over for all I care. But there is lots of people here and everywhere that are tired of being yanked around.
