At Machinery Hauling some of our ( BIG Trucks ) were capable of triple digits, seen that on 32 between Cinncinati and Portsmouth, seen them flying by that is :). Looked in mirror and seen flames rolling out of the stacks on the 83 Pete while pulling Union hill too, had to watch that one close!!

I've never done it, and have absolutely no interest.

Hopefully the ones that WOULD do this kind of craziness are at least considerate enough to not endanger others with their suicidal behavior by saving this for deserted highways with no traffic.

This is why most trucks have limiters

You'd be surprised how fast some rigs can go, especially when there's a tornado on the ground next to the highway and you need to move along in a hurry...

For whatever reason, trucks are capable of more than what you normally see on the roads today. Many have done things they normally would not do, just to see or say they did. Most important thing is getting the load there on time, and as safely as possible while acting like a professional truck driver. Everyone wants to go home to their family. Be safe out there.

The real question isn't "can my truck go 100 down hill"
    The real question is
"Can my truck go 100 UPHILL"

There's an airshow act called "Shock Wave" where the tractor (a Peterbilt, I think) is fitted with 3 jet engines. It goes from zero to 300 and back in the length of the runway.

I asked the driver where he got the tires for that, and he said, "Off the shelf"

I the downhill is long enough you could reach the speed of light.

False, at some point the aerodynamic drag would equal the force of gravity pushing it down.
