Yes, essentially you could. But why? Start with the load boards, find good people who will pay you fair rates and deal with them directly and run a certain area. We've got two approved trucks we broker to right now that haul our northeast freight without question. We pay them extremely high rates and they help us out of tight spots. We HOLD loads for them versus posting them on the boards because we know the areas they will want. I'd rather use them 100 times over than make an extra $100 on each load and risk someone screwing the job up for failing to come through.

Load boards are probably a good place to make "connections" - to see where things are "hot" (loads offered versus capacity - i.e.: I DON'T want to drag a load to somewhere, where there's 50 loads and 150 trucks posted - unless I have a good enough rate going in, that I can DH further out, or "compromise" on rates to get back to where the freight is hot).

You are lying. Never in the history of LS has an agent given an outside carrier priority over a BCO on a load. Next thing you are going to tell us is that you have outside carriers that you get extra money from the customer so you can keep them on an account. That is blasphemy. Don't you know that your whole purpose in life is to make the BCO successful to the detriment of your own business. :biggrin_25525:

Oh... darn... Forgive me.:biggrin_25523: I will say; if a BCO calls me and is available they WILL get the load over a brokered truck just because that's the way we do business, but I do have lanes that no BCO likes running that the brokers do and I treat them the same as my guys running with a blue star on their trucks. Business is business and we have 13 families to take care of including my own.

Ok, won't push that one and will say I respect that. Few and fewer agents are willing to make less money like that. That is the integrity that is missing in a lot of this business.

So this morning, my boss calls me with a $3 / mile load from SC to FL. And wants to know where I posted my truck as available because his phone was blowing up with load offers since before 8am. :)
