The only that that "might" happen if you force a TK to run when truck engine is running is. These newer trucks run so hot, if you are working your truck the TK may think it has over heated and shut down. If this happens just unhook the wire from high temp sender unit near the thermostat.
My old truck never ran that hot, but some of the newer ones will.
Can you run the apu and engine at the same time.
