Funny thing about that example. Part of the stock market laws state that trading isn't compensated work, So you would be legal to actually log that as off duty due to that weird law.
Anything else that is compensated work for a non-motor carrier, then yes you do need to.

You have to log on duty at uber , if you have a at fault fatal accident in your truck violating HOS , you could go to prison.
