The Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program is a commercial clearance program designed to ensure safety and security while expediting legitimate trade across the Canada-U.S. border.
-
I don't see it out west is why I asked.
-
Good everywhere. Shipper must also be FAST approved. They turned me down.

even if you arnt on a fast load you still use your fast card as identification--its actually a background check where as a passport only shows your residency

Some border towns have lockers that you can rent to store your gun while you're in Canada. Of course, that'll only work if you're coming out through the same town as you went in. And you'll want to make sure ahead of time that a locker is available, or else you could end up stuck at the border with no way to secure it.
I've even heard (not confirmed) that the US Customs office at Bellingham, Washington has lockers you can use. -
Yeah, a misdemeanor D-V person cannot even possess a firearm in the USA as well since 1996.
Gotta be careful about the wife/girlfriend and always fight it in court if you are innocent.
I think any D-V in Canada is a felony offense, like a DUI is up there. -
Thanks. I didn't know that. Do they have any restrictions on semi-automatics rifles or magazine capacities?

I have an enhanced cdl but have never made a border crossing as of yet. I think I will be making one soon, can you tell me what the process is as far as showing the enhanced license. Do they scan it, or is there a reader that I swipe my license across ? I'm guessing they have a special lane for FAST card holders, can someone with an enhanced cdl use the FAST card lane ? I'm sure the company I will be working for will let me know but it doesn't hurt to get a little info ahead of time.
TIA -
I am not sure, but since it is canada, I'd have to guess there are restrictions. I am certain though that you can cross into canada with your standard hunting type rifle, bolt action, lever, pump, in your bigtruck. Also, there is a minimun length the barrel must be but I dont recall what length that is...(essentialy bans sawed offs)Ranger_309 Thanks this.
