Canada to Mandate ELD for 2020

    I don't mind the ELD, it is the HOS. Not all of us haul toilet paper. It would be nice to stop the clock during the day. Automotive expedite freight is never predictable. There is no schedule.

    "Out of service criteria under discussion".
    If the driver is legal according to his eld but it is the officers opinion he or she is too fatigued to continue, what does that fall under?

    This whole eld subject is a double edged sword.

    I don't believe that is what the article is referring to. One of the reasons for the delay in mandating ELDs in Canada is that there are significant flaws in the US rules, especially as regards the manufacturers self-certifying their product and the ability for carrier's back office editing.     I've heard of rumors that eld's will be required in 1995 and newer trucks in CA
    Also a ''penalty of sort'' for any pre emmission trucks. Sort of a carbon tax I guess
