This person I know wouldnt send his produce trucks to Quebec because of the scam those guys do. A little goes wrong, and they file an insurance claim...is what he said

@gokiddogo I have heard about this running under someone else's authority but I Don't know anyone that does. What are the benefits to both parties?

    Benefit to you:
    Work is provided
No dealing with customers or brokers
No filing your own ifta, and all other taxes, like ny hut, new Mexico, kyu, Oregon,
Carrier provides insurance and charges you back for it
    Same goes for plates (irp)
Carrier provides fuel card and does all billing and collecting
You give up a % of the load for these services

    Carrier benefit:
I don't have to purchase and maintain another truck and trailer
I do all paperwork in exchange for a cut off the top

That about sums it up. The differences in good carrier vs not so good are: do they upcharge insurance and irp? Are you provided with an actual cost so you know they aren't? Are they passing along fuel discounts? Providing invoice upon request? Are actual load confirmations and billing and deposits shown on request? Stuff like that. Of course everyone has a line where they think these services are worth. Plenty of carriers taking 20-25% as well as many other shenanigans. Taking some off the top before taking their cut. Pocket fuel discount. Upcharge for stuff you already should be paying with the %. No shortage of crooks in this industry.

Right now I do not have any other trucks or owner operators. I have nowhere to put them if I did. That's why I say if this is even on the table you must have your own parking and truck and trailer. I do well with just 1 but I may be open to the idea of having an owner operator who manages all their own stuff and I just do some more paperwork. If we can agree on a % it could work. I am not out to dick anyone over. You want fuel invoices and insurance/irp, that's not how to make money. Same goes for rate sheets and cheque stubs from paid invoices.

All varies on what you're doing. I know you mentioned Detroit, MI because you're 15 mins from there but have you considered running Ontario only?

Rates are a bit cheaper but saves you a #### ton of fees.
