Tuesday evening: start shift at 7:01pm
[8 closes at 3am, Canada at ~130am-no need for 8]
[16 closes at 11am] paperwork ready at 1135am. Kt elog says 0 time available. Edit in 15 min drive 1135-1150-it claims violation.

From your link 18 (1) (e) I break the 16 hour. But 18 (2) says to exclude any period of 2+ hours. So, at 11:35, is my actual time available still the remaining of my 13/14 ? It looks as I had used about 10 hours driving + 1 on duty at the point I backed into the dock. Leaving about 3 hours driving or the same 3 for on duty?

Do I have this correct and my elog doesn't have it programmed right or vice versa?

Weds at 5am I should have put receiver check in. :/
There is no yard dog. And they need every dock. And I am not leaving my top of the line reefer anywhere out of my sight.

It says i have currently been in sleeper for 8h57 and gives this as available time:

    What the heck...
If I change my test time from 1200-1700 it now gives this

At the time I actually drove it, about 1135 am to say 1155 am - it says 0 time available- you are in violation!
Then if I stay in sleeper for enough time after; parked legally now, it changes to, "oh, that was legal."

I don't get the 16 hour calculation. To me, it closed at 11:01 am Wednesday. It seems to agree with me. Until after the fact.

Ok this makes absolutely no sense now.

If I add in what I actually drove, 1135-1155, it says violation.

If I add in I drive 1135-3pm: only in violation a little at the end:

This doesn't make any sense to me.

Sometimes you can start a split-break session earlier so that you can do some sleeper time at the receiver. It's really hard to plan that ahead though when you're relying on someone else. Other than that, about the only thing you can really do is set an appointment time that ensures you have enough time to get out.

The part that doesn't make sense. It is if I drive a short 20 min it's violation. If I do 2 hours it says it's fine. At the time of doing the driving it is saying I have 0 time available. After I've completed a bunch more sleeper after the fact, the 2 hour would of been fine but not the 20 min.

    Clear as mud, lol.
I am going to leave it as 20 min when I actually did it. And if I have an inspection I will hopefully get their opinion. I have screen shots. All I want them to do is tell me how to be legal :/
    Preferably without a big ticket

The other thing that might work for you is a Deferral, but you need 8 consecutive hours off-duty/sleeper in the first day to make that work (and be in Canada ;)). When I was hauling pipe M-F I used to plan my week to end 2 hours early by taking 8 hours Thu. night and then deferring the 2 hours to Fri night when I was at home for the weekend.

8 hour deferral is sleeper only I believe.
And yes I've done that many a time as well. Kind of slacking here for my 2.5 hour drive home after delivering this morning. Driving nights is way more productive but it does take it's toll after a few days.

Nope, it can be either or both so long as it is consecutive. Same with the 2+8 on Day 2. It just can't be used as a split-break.
