I've just come out of retirement and thought I would drive again. I hired on with TransX, lured by some fancy promises. I even thought I might lease a truck. LOL
So I find it's a multi million dollar company that is run by children. Dispatchers, trip planners etc with no life experience, no trucking experience..... Its a total pain in the ...
OK So the money is not too bad. I kick our about 13000-14000 miles a month. The pay though depends on doing what they call 'macros' on that satellite system. If you waste enough time doing those you get more money. Most are a study in redundancy though, because once you've sent one, you are repeating all the info on the subsequent macros.
Then you have to deal with all the broken promises.....

Good post (above). FYI - The word 'Macro' is origianly Greek for 'long' or 'large' ( I think ). Maybe that helps explain the history behind QualComs terminalogy ...... ? AND their billing philosophy to customers.

Anyone have any info on Caravan Logistics. They are moving in to the West and I was told by one trucker that they do a lot of Mail.

You are everything that's wrong with this industry:

Little company yes-man who's only too happy to let them walk all over you, and then spew this formulaic "positive mentality" garbage at everyone who dares disagree with you.

    Or maybe you're just trolling?

In that case, nicely-done: A bit lacking in originality and style, though -- I would say, 6.5/10.

    Next!

When sattelites first came out, I was a broker. Now remember the key word in 'broker' is 'BROKE'. Initially a lot of companies were billing their brokers for QualCom. It is called QualComm isn't it ? Anyway I remember getting my first statement with the QualCom fee on it. I said HOLY ........ but it wasn't HOLY MACRO ..... and yes PB ....really really big explained that fee. Longer story short, I CALLED the company, told them to route me past the shop for de-installation, and I told them that calling cards and coffee at the truck stop table was PILES cheaper then routing everything thru space. I quess I wasn't the only one. Pretty quickly they decided the technological edge they were advertising was worth paying for themselves .... so I plugged mine back in.

Ya They still have that stupidity. They forget though, I'm driving that truck. I'll fill the #### thing when I fuel. I won't get ten gallons here and twenty gallons there. What a collosal waste of time!
