I read a stat last week, 15% of the vehicles on the road (Canada) are uninsured.

I-Haul sitting trucks are around 15 units as of yesterday. According to one of their company drivers.
They may be bankrupt very soon. Due to Loblaws who refuses to pay fuel surcharge.
They might survive. But it would be a miracle. Have you checked the fuel prices lately?

1.80 1.80 CAD minimum for reefer loads originating from GTA.
Then empty to California. All good paying loads in Alberta are already contracted.
You may still haul Peat Moss or Frozen Fries, but the profit will be minimal.
Then California to GTA on really high rates. They vary weekly but they are high.
But you need to be single with a fast, reliable power and reefer unit. Both with warranty.
    Good luck.

Petro Pass works everywhere including USA.
    It's the most expensive though.

He is right. ABL is the way to go.
If you want to own your trailer go for a B-train. If you can do it, there are good paying loads left in AB. Because there are not enough qualified owners that can safely do it.
Or even get a decent insurance rate. Or get an insurance at all for the weight rating.
