I agree, if it's so bad to call it a bottom feeder or whatever why even consider working their.. I went to work for one of the mega company's and I'm extremely happy and still trying to figure out why it's called a bottom feeder by some. Not meaning to bragg but I make 1300 to 1580 a week being out otr for what is called a bottom feeder by so many.. how much does a company have pay a driver per week to not be called bottom feeder? I might need to switch over if I can find one

Sorry, I was making a play on words.

The DAC report is done by a company called HireRight. You can get your free report here:

    https://www.thetruckersreport.com/free-dac-report/

By the way, it takes real courage to come to a land not speaking the language. I commend you for your strength in your journey. It's not easy. My wife also speaks English as a second language.

Why sell yourself cheap? Do you think it makes you look good? You want to work for a small company because supposedly it's better than a large company right? Now that is by no means true I can assure you but let's say it is. So, you want to work for a smaller company at "mega bottom feeder" rates? Taking less money than your worth doesn't make you look good, it makes you look weak and your fellow drivers won't like hearing that at all.

Thank you for sharing this. I am just not sure what I should do. the small company told me to call them by Thursday if I want to start next week, if I don't he said he completely understands because I'm young and need to find what's right for me. I also postponed my other orientation. Pay is not a huge priority at this point to me, quality of life, gaining experience and know how is much more important in my opinion. What would you guys with years under your belt do? I just turned 21 two months ago. -Thanks

You have to jump eventually. Just go with the one that feels better. There is nothing magical about small companies. In fact, if a company has only a few trucks I would probably not want to work for them. Some of the worst offers I've ever had have come from small companies.

Most truckers don't stay where they start. We move around for a variety of reasons but most all of us move. You say you are not too concerned about pay but I wonder if you are understanding that we don't get paid all that great anyway so taking less is a bit foolish. 21 or not, rookie or not. You are entitled to negotiate for the highest lay you can get the same as me. Don't ever go into a job saying you are okay with taking less than they are offering. That is never a good strategy.

Lepton1, Thull and Woodchuck88 Thank this.
