Well, it's kinda personal you are calling everyone in this thread that said an adapter works on their ELD's a liar, so....
Not me but Ridge, among others, have stated they use the adapters with ELD's all the time.

I despise FUD. (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) If you don't care about which product, why not post links to other products that work instead of the only product link you posted conveniently happens to be a RM product? Or at the very least stop spreading the "not guaranteed to work" weasel statements. As stated before, there is a huge difference in "not guaranteed to work" and "will not work".
Once Volvo/Mack states "will not work" then, and only then will I know all adapters will not work. Until then I have to believe the actual first hand experience of posters here that says it works....

No they did not... They said AOBRD's... there is a difference.

I happen to work for RM and I only and I want you to note this... posted as an example of a Spider Cable. No way, shape, or form did I have to say you have to buy THAT cable... It was an example. I do not push other products from other manufactures since I work for RM... That was an EXAMPLE only.

As noted in post 1 -
Hello everyone, i have a 2016 Volvo truck that I recently found out I cannot plug in any of the ELD devices into.

The data port on my truck is rectangular and when I called the dealer they said that all the new Volvo trucks are like that.

When I called several ELD manufacturers, I asked them if I could use an adapter. They all had pretty much the same response that they couldn't guarantee compliance because it was not designed to work with OBD2.

Please note - that the OP called several ELD manufacturers and do you not think in working with these truck manufactures that the ELD Manufactures would have found out that the OBD2 port will not provide the correct protocols? Thus you have to buy an Spider Cable for the Volvo from WHOMEVER you wish for WHATEVER ELD you wish.

If you wish to post links to other spider cables then be my guest. I happen to work for RM and I only provided an example of what one looked like...

If you wish to satisfy your own knowledge, call Volvo and ask them.... For THE ELD.

So Ridgeline and Scooter did not say ELD? OK, would you please, please learn to read? Or am I making what they said up?

And of course if I call Volvo they will repeat the "not guaranteed" line. I never doubted that. I just cannot see how a tech with your so called experience flat refuses to see what is in front of them. Namely the difference in "not guaranteed" and "will not work".

So again, how are you not just being a salesman pushing RM's product when you've been given examples of ELD's working with the plug without your vaulted spider cable?

The pic they showed,, stated AOBRD.... no where in the spec's did it say ELD.

I gave an example not examples... again it was just a picture of an spider cable.

take it for what it is worth...

The only thing I have to do on BigRoad to change the application hardware from AOBRD To ELD is to uncheck a box in the software controls as the administrator of the account, that's it.

I've made it clear (at least I thought I did) I'm planning to use the DashLink as an AOBRD during the 2 year exception.

My perception is that Mark is making a mountain out of a molehill and whether intended or not, seems to be shilling for RM and undermining other perfectly legal and certifiable ELD applications on the market.

Then call Volvo/Mack and ask them about their diagnostic port.

But you did not respond or acknowledge the link I provided from BigRoad clearly demonstrating their certified status as an ELD provider. Which leads me to believe you are not very well versed on other competitors in the marketplace. BigRoad is not a Johnny come lately...

So they are a certified ELD provider. FMCSA does not certify them.

The listed devices are self-certified by the manufacturer. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration does not endorse any electronic logging devices.

    ELD - Registered ELDs

Post 41 shows an AOBRD certification not ELD.
