I hauled grain across into Canada. It was pre cleared at 42 metric tonnes per load, even though I could have 44 metric tonnes on board. As long as it is the same product or item you're good.Long FLD Thanks this.

Oh ok. I thought the piece count had to match what we had on. We didn’t have any problem with how we did it but I can see how there’s that chance of getting held up doing it the day you loaded.MidwestResident Thanks this.

I always contacted the broker myself to ensure I was cleared before getting to the border.
MidwestResident Thanks this. -
We haul in totes, and the number of totes can be lower, but not higher. So if we’re cleared for 22 totes, but show up with 20, were good.
nobody’s ever going to weigh the fish inside the totes.....
.
MidwestResident and Long FLD Thank this. -
most brokers have a PARS app you can check on the go.MidwestResident and not4hire Thank this.

Thats not accurate. I am an owner operator, I get paid detention all the time. I also get paid layover. Also brokers usually pay all fees associated with the load.MidwestResident, IH Truck Guy, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
@Ridgeline
Has the U.S. Customs Service ever kept an American truck driver, who is an American citizen, from reentering into the United States of America? If so, what would cause something like this to happen?
God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Is a company driver, American or Canadian, able to, or allowed to contact the broker himself or herself?

To be fair, I picked up aload of canned dog food in SC everything was precleared but when I got to the border the load was flagged for a certificate of bovine, The trailer sat at FT Erie for 10 days, The truck and I were allowed to leave tho,
