Have you checked out any LTL companies? For a newbie (I'm in the same boat)...those and beverage delivery outfits are the only "local" companies (where you'll be home every night) that seem to have any interest in taking on new drivers.

Assuming you've got a clean driving record and background check...you'll find something that will keep you in your home range if you beat the bushes enough. I lost track of how many places I applied to (literally dozens) before the LTL and beverage angle opened up for me (I'm leaning towards LTL).

Edit: You just have to work the search engines and ask around locally to find some companies. i.e. Talk to someone from your driving school. They should have a list of employers that will hire recent CDL grads.

The video appears to be in his signature block...not directly posted into the thread.

Dont take it personally but 1500 miles with 500 of them in a box truck is NOT really hireable experience for most outfits

Shaggy, Moon_beam and Milkman719 Thank this.

If they have offered anything, with that little experience, take it for now, in time after being there you can transfer to different position

If trucking is what you truely wanna do then you need to go out with a trainer get exp then go for a local job,1500 miles total is not considered exp. That 1000 miles, was all that done while in school? Before further applying look at their requirements. You mentioned magnum needs a yard dog more commonly called shag driver,so what's the problems? If you don't wanna be away from home I say apply for the position. If you need a job then take what you can get otherwise you'll be waiting along time for that just right job to come along while your CDL collects dust.
