It's all ego on both sides of the fence. I used to run for a small outfit that had triple digit trucks so I understand where your coming from blackw900. I now run for a company that has slow trucks. Most of our guys are governed at 60 to get the guaranteed speed bonus but i have 65 on cruise and 70 on the pedal. I run 65 most of the time but still have that extra 5 mph to pass with when I need it. I get people all the time with a 65 mph truck that are running 62 or 63 and you go out to pass them and they speed up to 65 on flat ground just to stick you out in the hammer lane. I just put it on the floor to 70 and go right on by and they look at you like how did he do that? I pass them move back over drop back to 65 and there out of sight in the mirrors pretty soon.
Can't handle getting passed?

I agree, Who cares if a faster truck passes you. All I care about ( in my 65.4 mph truck ) is once you pass, go away! I hate it when a truck I know is much faster passes me and then slows down.
CommDriver, Dr. Venture, oh well and 1 other person Thank this. -
Exactly. Why pass my slow truck and then slow down even farther?
However, I'm not going to stay behind someone on a climb just to stroke their ego. I'm slow and usually loaded heavy so I'm not going to lose any momentum I don't have to. Pass me again on the downgrade I don't care. Just leave my slow lil self alone. -
That's probably because his cell phone rang and he doesn't have the intelligence to talk on a cell and drive on CRUISE at the same time!
BUT I bet if he had the CB mike in his hand he would keep on hammering!
Just MHO!oh well Thanks this. -
I do the speed limit plain and simple. If I get into a mountainous area I only pass if I know that I can do it quickly and that the person in front of me will not pass me back because I do not want all of the examples said before to happen. If I am not in a hurry I will just stay behind another slower truck through the mountains. I'll get where I need to be when I get there.

I have never went the speed limit. I always set cruise at 2 over cause many a Snooper Trooper has told me that factory set cruise are 2 OFF, so they dont worry about it(I wont mention the speeding tickets Ive gotten). I CANT stand if Im only pulling 15-20 thou going uphill and are getting passed. NO, I'm not fat and heavy. Stupid trucks turned down anyways. Getting real tired of dumping my change out the window as fast as I can to catch up. Heck with them, just stay behind them and let them go. You SAVE fuel HES using up.

Sheesh, I love to hammer down and blow by large cars, only to have them hammer down and rip on by. But now I do that in California, just hammer down and blow by a COE fruit truck, the driver gets all pissy that a Slovo just went rippin' by him, he yammers on teleomundo that he is going for it, blows my doors off and leaves me like I'm locked to a dock, I slow back down and let him rabbit all the bears out for me.
But when I'm running a two lane blacktop, I keep my CB on and make a plan with the driver behind me if he is moving. I'll tell him when to come around and I'll put out the flaps. You can make a pass nice and fast and SAFE that way.
But when I come around to pass some chowderheads, and as soon as they see the name on the door, they act all butthurt and kick it up, that really makes me mad.
