What's wrong with that little radio? Someone on this forum posted that no one believes they're running a cobra. I want to get a small radio to add to my collection.

I may have to take back what I said, as I see the latest model of the 19, the DX IV does have a gain control. The ones I'm familiar with didn't have it though.

I know what the issue is with some of the versions are that does this but I don't know what version so it is hard to tell the guy what 'could' be the issue.

I'm curious, what is the issue you're aware of?

Some models have problems with the AGC system for the IF stage, so when it is hit with a strong signal, the AGC reduces the gain in the IF stage too much. I forget what needs to be changed to fix it, it is a substitute for the transistor they decided to us. It is a lot like the Brownings small radios where they used in production a substitute part for the AGC chain and a lot of radios has this messed up receive. I think I have it in one of my note books but which one is a guess.

I saw it..Doesnt change the fact...It may have worked badly cause of the of the exposed issue but im just saying, its never a fix to trim...
I had a seemingly well known cb shop in ar tell me to do the same thing...I just paid for my ant and left..
