Drinking while eating is not healthy at all...The digestion starts in the mouth with saliva breaking down solid foods and preparing them for the next step in the stomach where other enzymes will continue the digestive process. If we drink while eating or less than 2 hrs after eating, that disturbs the natural process of digestion.
I never drink when I eat and wait about 2 hrs to drink or drink a little before I eat. Have been doing this for 30 yrs. I have plenty of saliva, don't have constipation or heartbun.... and if I mix drink with food, will surely get gas and stomach ache.
This is what I found online:
Liquids taken during meals can dilute digestive enzymes and stomach acids and these are essential to break down the food and absorb nutrients. As it's harder to break down the food, the stomach may produce more acids, which could result in heartburn or acid reflux. This could possible put more pressure on the small intestines as well because the food is passed along from the stomach without being broken enough.
Best method of eating for good health is: chew your food properly until it gets liquid as tremendous burden is taken off of the stomach and intestines and also allows powerful digestive enzymes in salive to thoroughly mix with food. Minimize drinking while eating. Avoid physical exertion following meals. Eat with a grateful heart. People who eat with a sense of gratitude for their food experience more efficient and complete digestion...Now have a blessed meal.
