you can tune the ecm and drill a hole in dpf and it will pass tests as long as the fuel trims are left stock also tuning in ecm cant be detected just dont let dealer update ecm

So how does one bypass the Snap-Test?

Here in Florida, I just did a Brake Inspector class that had several DOT officers in it and they said they are trained to look for holes in exhaust system and questioned the mechanics on how to tell if emissions have been tampered with. They said that all the states are hurting for money and although Florida doesn't do yearly inspections, they are now doing road side inspections and after the 1st, they are stepping up enforcement since emissions is Federal and "easy" way to collect fines. I would presume all the states will be getting that training
On the ECM tuning, Cummins just did a new mandatory update where they will know that the ECM was tampered with and they are voiding warranties. We learned quickly with a customer that has a 2012 engine that did a dpf delete kit in Ohio. He blew a piston main rod and Cummins will not cover the warranty. Ouch! -
Sound like european opacity test, no problems passing it even with heavily modified engine. 500$ a year doesn't sound much even if you don't pass.

with professional ECM tuning.

In Ontario your truck must be 7 model years old before requiring an emissions test. Enforcement is weak to nothing right now. For those who wish to peruse the path of DPF deleting, a word of caution!!! What ever you do is your business, but the day will come when the man will be looking out for you, then that other day will come when you will get caught! I really don't think running an illegal emission truck will come with slap on the wrist. I would expect the fines to be career ending!!! You need to also think about how much your modded truck will be worth at trade in time, zero! We perform complete emissions inspection on all trade ins. If you think you can deal a truck with by passed emissions, think again. Basically we politely tell that customer to have a nice day. No dealer will touch a truck with eliminate emissions. Too much hassle and expense to make it compliant again. Unless someone buys it as-is for off road use only, which never happens. You will be stuck with that truck forever. The day may also come when you cannot get an annual cert sticker without a properly functioning aftertreatment system.

So when a computer is plugged into the ECM....The Tech cannot see any modifications done to the ECM?

Lol, come to Alberta, dpf deleted trucks sell quick! There's no time for broke down rigs here. As for warranty and blowing a engine up that's a risk were willing to take. Plus 10 deletes and counting in my fleet and only ECM failures have been my issues other than leaving the vgt turbos on till they blow.
