I look forward to the day when they pull me in to "inspect" my truck for these issues. Have to break out the lawn chair and sit and watch the fun start.

Install a hidden toggle switch for your power supply wire of the ECM connector and good luck to see them connect, a situation like this and they're not aloud bustin open the dash to see what's up.....and you could play it out that it's there software not reading properly
-
Knowing California, they'll impound the truck until they can read it. Anything to make a dollar. I'm glad I moved away.
-
Sounds like there be a truckin strike or some nice high rates to keep them rigs running
-
Can't wait - California shippers are going to pay for all this dearly... Rates going to go go thru the roof in high season - I like CARB for that, they are all idiots and it will damage state economy but someone will be moving that freight charging premium rates for their stupidity lol
-
I don't see california rates going up because of this, there's to many big companies with new trucks for that to happen. All I see it doing is keeping the little guy out of cali. My question is what is it going to do to all the farmers with there older trucks? Unless there's an exemption for them or something its going to kill what is left of the little guys. I have a family member who dairies in southern Oregon and gets alot of there hay out of California. The guy that hauls it has been doing it for over 20 years hauling in to my families dairy and now he's giving it up an looking for a job. The guy raised 6 kids and numerous grand kids and as well as being a foster child hauling hay out of Commifornia with a 1973 KW that he's upgraded along the way because he loves his truck and it's paid for itself time and time again. This truck is running and series 60 detroit out of a 1999 truck he bought and glidered powertrain into the old KW. In 11 years it's been wrote up for only 1 tail light not working. A guy keeps a his truck this meticulus and now has to park it and lower his standard of life because of some politician that's proalbly getting a kick back some where along the trail for there part. I can understand them making a truck pass emissions for the year it was built but beyond that is BS. The sad part is the rest of the nation is soon to be the same way. All it would take is the federal government tell them they have to let trucks in that meet emissions for when they were built or they lose there funding and things would change quick.

There's exemptions handed out by the State.......Some of you may....Just may qualify for them....
Most of those exemptions apply to Designated Businesses...Out of State Businesses and International Carriers....
If you are a Cali based Non-Exempt biz...Well..You have one more year left if you don't have at least an '07 EPA certified rig...... -
There are also exemptions for low mileage and construction related vehicles. I have not looked up to see if there are farm exemptions. I know a lot if small guys that are being forced into retirement or another job.
-
There's exemptions for Out-Of State Carriers if they have Gov't contracts....Like Mil loads.....
CARB is also going after the "Big Iron"......
You think the cost to retro-fit a truck is expensive (Between $12-25K).....Try reto-fitting a CAT D12 or a CAT 235 Excavator.......CARB has no clue how much they just Effed small bizzes in Cali......And I don't think CARB even cares....... -
And for you guys that can afford a brand new rig to be compliant.....
I have an '09.....I went through the process to register with the Clean Trucks program to run in the ports....CARB emailed me a notice that said my rig has a "Useful Life" of 10 years....
So according to CARB...We're supposed to replace equipment every 10 years......gokiddogo Thanks this.
