Hi. I have been working overnight (10 pm to 7 am) stocking for Walmart for the last 3 years. Figured if I'm going to work that hard, I ought to make more money. My wife said she thought I'd make a good truck driver. So, I am going to driving school in Jan 2012 and am looking at what different companies have to offer. This forum has a lot of great information and I really appreciate the veteran's insight into what a new driver should know. Thank you.
PS my wife and I shelter abandoned cats in the Ozark mountains, hence the CatsRancher name.

I'm thinking Wal-Mart doesn't pay you very well even after working for them for three years. Anyway, good luck on your research. You will get a lot of information here. I think I have finally gotten a company to hire me...if I make it through the three weeks of training for the CDL. Keep the updates coming.

    Best advice for beginning:

Do you have a clean driving record? All the way back! I keep reading stories saying, "I can't believe they found my DUI from 12 years ago!"

Then they want to see that you are committed to employers. By that I mean consistant work and not three employers per year.

If those are met then you will have a much better acceptance with applications.

    Good luck!

The more you read and study the better prepared you'll be for a driving career.
    Welcome!
