Seems I read on here that some states will expunge DUI's, criminal backgrounds and other things. Not sure though, you may check into it.

Community college CDL schools average $2000.00
There's a few companies that might hire you if you complete a private or community college CDL school.
If the first DUI was handled under the UCMJ it probably isn't on the civilian record, so that's a big plus for you.
You could put out a feeler, for example with Swift Driving Academy, and see if they approve you or not. If they do the background, MVR, then accept you then go for it and stick with it for 12 months.KW Cajun Thanks this. -
My community college doesn't have a CDL program. I had thought about giving coca cola a call but didn't think about calling swift. What do you mean stick it out for 12 months? Get experience and go with something else? My plan was to be somewhat self employed like an o/o or buy a dump truck. Wish my uncle still owned his trucking company. He had a very successful trucking company but he sold a few years back. Thanks for the info.

I also believe you've especially witnessed the outgoing traffic at LSU football games.
The OP actually may not be as harmed by these 2 DUI's as most offenders would. Quite possible the military (if solely UCMJ handled) DUI may never show on his civilian driving record. Also, if the OP's most recent Article 894 DUI is handled in certain ways, this can be expunged from his record after he satisfys the judge's "punishment" and whatever waiting period come with that judgement/Art 894 approval.
But the question I ask of the OP is... since your last DUI was only 6 mo ago, is alcohol really over with? If you even can obtain a CDL, I hope you realize you can sink to the bottom of a bottomless pit, should you ever drive with even the barest trace of alcohol in your system. Even .04 while in your personal vehicle.
No sense even trying for a CDL if the days aren't over, with mixing driving and alcohol. Those days MUST be over.
To get your own dump truck, as you are thinking, startup & insurance costs will be very high (plus all the licensing & state/fed gubment fees, not to mention maintenance costs).
But I'm not sure what conditions the judge requires of your Article 894, or if it is "guaranteed" to stay off your record prior to any expungement.Tonythetruckerdude, Clyde07 and Chinatown Thank this. -
I've been sober 6 months and been in counseling since, for me alcohol must be over for me as I'm convinced the next time I drink might be the last thing I ever do. I was given one more chance from God to get it right or I'll be sent home as I almost killed myself and widowed my wife. I've never seen anything good come from alcohol and how it is legal is beyond me. Alcohol has 2 outcomes for me, death or jail. Anytime you drink and drive you have to get lucky everytime time, cops and death itself only have to get lucky once. As far as my conditions of my article 894, I was sentenced to 2 years probation but my probation officer told me if I can get all my conditions meet in a week then thats how long my probation will be because of the article 894. So probation can last 2 years or 2 weeks. Then my lawyer told me he'll start the expungement process. This isn't a move I'm looking to make by next week, I'm in the research phase of it right now. Want to make sure I don't do anything that is unfair to my wife first.

Thanks for the input but I'm not inclined to just forget about it, especially with circumstances of my horrible tarnished record. Not sure anyone would be doing anything if everyone just forgot about something they wanted cause someone said its impossible, if I'm meant to be a trucker I'll be one, if it's not in the cards for me then I won't be trucker.
