dont let the grumpy holier than Jesus folks get you down. Finish your probation and get the legal end sorted, then pursue your dreams dude. It's hit and miss when you post on a forum what kind of responses you get, and the trolls are usually out in force.

Yea I kinda figured I might be making a mistake posting on here. I already called a few companies and other schools, some said yes some said no, most have said yes and not to listen to people on the internet. I may not be able to haul gold or money but I'll be trucker one day.

Well received some good news yesterday. My first DUI I wasn't convicted of and the second is in the process of getting expunged. This should eliminate my DUI problem right? Only other problem I have now is my wife is a little uneasy with me changing my career.

This is all good news...sort of...."IF" it works out like that for you , then you'll have no problems with the DUI's...."IF" for some un-told reason in the future it raises it's head...you'll be fired from whatever job that you have.... Why risk it by not telling the thruth on a job application...you may get really lucky and land the kind of job that you can support your family with , be home , and ultimately retire from.....I guess I'm saying " WHEN IN DOUBT , ALWAYS , ALWAYS , DID I SAY ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH.......Good Luck....

I'm not planning on keeping my mouth shut. I have to tell them I was arrested for the DUI but wasn't convicted. The one that is expunged I'm not so sure about. My attorney and probation officer both told me that by law you do not have to disclose information about an expunged DUI. They told me it simply just isn't on your record because it has been erased. But I still plan on telling them, except if I try to apply to USA Truck because they state on their website no to include expunged or sealed DUIs.

It's all in the language on the app. Most apps ask if you have been convicted. If you know absolutely, positively that you have no conviction then I wouldn't bring it up. If you're asked if you've ever been arrested, well you know the answer to that.

Yea, no I'll be telling the truth on everything. I did have some questions though as I'm trying to make a very informative decision on this matter. I love my wife and the time I spend with her, I've talked to her about it and she says that she'll support me no matter what. So I can't get her opinion on the matter cause she tells me she's happy if I'm happy and not being a bum. I'm not complaining about that response I just don't want to be unfair to her. Are there truckers out there that have a very healthy and good relationship with their spouse and a trucker? My goal was a regional type of job, not sure what all options there are but I'm under the impression most everyone must pay their dues and drive OTR for 1-2 years, am I right. But, all roads lead to one day in the distant being an owner operator. Thanks for all the replies.

I think I may be attending CDL school January 6th, not sure yet. The school I'm going to doesn't accept gi bill. What other ways did y'all pay for CDL? The school is Rapid CDL School in Carthage TX if anyone has any information on them, thanks.

Also I forgot to add, little confused if I should wait to apply until my DUI is expunged, I called maverick and one recruiter said as long as my DUI is expunged they can hire me. A separate recruiter told me as long as my MVR is clear I'll be good to go. I went to the DMV and bought my record and it was clear. My lawyer told me my article 894 kept the DUI off my driving record. Should I wait until it is officially expunged or could I just see if I'm approved or not with a clean driving record and if I get denied could I just resubmit my application after it gets expunged?

A friend of mine worked for a company from 2006 to 2010 then quit. In 2012 he reapplied and hireRIGHT.com found a 1987 DUI that was “….SET ASIDE….” After he went to a court ordered class for first time DUI offenders. Just because it is not showing up currently does not mean that it will not show up later.
