It's good to apply now. Gives you time to iron out surprises that may come up, and you're not scrambling to get that government paperwork that the company may want and the government will take 60 days to cough up.

Thanks, I had read that it was good to get pre-hire letters on Trucking Truth, but I wasn't sure if it was a waste of time for both myself and an employer.

I am new to this site and am going to get my cdl at an independent trucking school. I am going to be attending Napier Truck Driving School in Hamilton, OH which is a little north of Cincinnati. I have read a lot about them and they sound reputable.
I am 24 years old and have tried college and it is not for me. I have no previous truck driving experience but have many reasons why I want to become a truck driver. First reason is that I need to achieve something out of this life. I haved worked several jobs and they really lead to nothing more than a dead end. I am not much of an independent person which will make this hard for me but I need to find myself.
I would like to travel the country since I haven't been out of my state often. I know that it will be from the roadside but I enjoy driving, it is a nice escape from reality. I spent most of my time with family and didn't really make friends. I need some time alone on the road to search within myself to find out who I am. I don't have a wife or kids which helps me in making this come true.
I have a couple companies that I am interested and would like to here feedback from experienced drivers. From what I've read about I would like to work for Schneider, U.S. Express, Con-way, or NTB. These companies seem solid and offer employment to recent graduates.
I applied for the WIA grant and if everything goes accordingly I will start training with Napier soon. I already have my DOT physical the medical certificate is good for 2 years. I am unemployed at the moment and hopefully I can get some cash together to pay my bills during the month that I am in training.
I am happy to join the Truckers Report and can't wait to get started in the trucking world. -
Oh I guess that's probably different if they pre hire during school.
