Oh, for anyone wondering, the unrelated venture is refitting old military equipment for emergency response purposes. So old 5 tons, generators, etc. Compared to the auction prices of the equipment, transportation fees are through the roof. I figured I could fund my purchases/repairs and cut an expense by getting a CDL, purchasing a truck, and pulling my own cargo. Once the items are refurbished and outfitted and put into service, they will easily net a healthy year round profit. At that point I would stop commercial driving and move on from there.
Career path advice?

I have a friend that does that and makes pretty good money. Actually its his side business. His first business is his trucking co.
He buys fire trucks, ambulances, cop cars etc... direct from districts and towns then he spiffs them up and sells them down in Central and South America.
Best of luck to you! Thank you for your service!
