I have been looking into that. I found one fairly close that i am looking into now, they put you in a truck for minimum 50 hours, 24 Road hours and 26 yard hours

Heh well maybe not the right place for this, but i just got a call about getting a free Class B CDL and job to go with it.
HorseShoe Thanks this. -
From what I gather, it was the company that gave you this info on the school? I cant vouch for any of them since I have zero experience with any schools or companies in the U.S. but if this is true, I would consider it heresay and would want to speak with students, teachers, etc at the school itself. Not saying the company wasn't right but I woyld want to verify it. School I went to had partners they worked with and encouraged me to go to one. None fit my profile of what I wanted to do with my CDL, so I declined. They were more than ok with that.
As for the external work experience, unless you have to pay extra for it I wouldn't see that as a bad thing.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
absolutely. and if they do not meet the "quota", they can sell off thier percentage. but as i see it, that will not happen, as it's easy money for them. and possible tax breaks as well.????

I asked bout PA State laws supposedly requiring 220 hours of schooling, This is what a Supervisor told me over the phone do you or anyone know if that is true, been searching for that and have yet to find it. PA.gov cdl stuff not seeing it, only thing i did see is that it is not required to attend training school to get a CDL but maybe something has changed or i read it wrong.
-
it is not a state requirement to go to CDL school. it may be a company requirement in some instances however.
there may be a law that schools must have x number of hours as a minimum, maybe perhaps so they can call themselves schools and meet certain state educational requirements as a school.
but you can get your CDL on your own, but you have to find a way to get a truck for the road test. then pound the pavement for a job, with out that CDL school certificate. -
Ok just trying to figure out why he was telling me i had to do 220 hours if i didnt do the externship, he claims the other schools in other states is 3 to 4 weeks (160), and PA is different requiring 220
-
ok...let's start from square one........
who da hell is telling YOU that YOU need 220 hours..????
who is telling YOU that you NEED to do an internship....(ah free work, no pay...????) -
