I hate one in straps with a passion. I generally buy some of the 1 1/2 in or just use a regular 2 in strap for dunnage. I also cut them to length so I do not have a lot of tail to deal with and only use them for the one purpose.

Cut up an oil jug to get square corners and slot them. Feed your strap through the slot to keep from losing them and the plastic will protect your straps on the edge.JessieH46536, kylefitzy and MACK E-6 Thank this.

Find some discarded large fire hose. Cut to length and slide over the strap. They cushion well and they last forever.

if it were my trailer, i would drill holes to mount a set of 2" straps. have you a 3ft section of strap with a Cam buckle on it. slide your stuff in and pull tight.
