That is one reason I recommend the concrete sealer over the oils. The other reason is that oils do not penetrate hardwoods very well.

You can use 50/50 boiled linseed and turpentine. The turp thins it out some and helps it soak in quicker. If you wait till summer time the heat will help it penetrate better.

Watco Danish Oil Finish. Soaks in fast, dries fast and won't leave any oily residue.

Thompsons Water seal works good but little spendy.
I use "Ace Hardware" (generic) brand water seal on new apitong deck last fall works great. Second trlr I've used it on with no issues.
Use one of those small pump up weed killer jugs and just spray it on. Lowboy takes about 2 gals.
Apitong is so porous it'll just soak in, I put 2 coats on new wood.
No oily residue, no issues at all with tracked equipment on and off.Dominion Transportation and dclerici1 Thank this. -
Dominion Transportation and Diesel Dave Thank this.

how bout just get a aluminum floor?

If you mix some diesel with that used motor oil it will soak in better and still protect the wood.

Kinda funny reading......we are not finishing furniture here! I use 50/50 RAW linseed oil and turpentine. Gramps began using it in the 40s; been on every truck body and trailer deck twice a year since.

Does apitong need anything? I guess I should read the manual. We've had that one trailer since 2007 and the apitong looks like new.
CharlieK Thanks this.
