Most every company trucking or not will start pay after the 2nd week. They are probably the same regardless of how many miles you drive. If you are doing coast to coast it shouldn't be a problem racking up 5000 (or more) in 2 weeks time.

What does the recruiter say about the website....

    Quoted from "Carolina Cargo. "
    LONG HAUL
Carolina Cargo’s transport fleet consists of late-model International and Freightliner power units, 53-foot vans, and 48-foot to 53-foot refrigerated trailers. Our drivers are typically on the road 5 to 8 days and we utilize interactive GPS tracking on 100% of our power units.

Carolina Cargo has focused on fast, reliable coast to coast freight delivery for nearly 20 years and has expanded to a fleet of 100 trucks running over 250,000 miles each year with fleet utilization exceeding 80% consistently.

Coast to Coast : Is this Team Only, What is the split 50/50 of 50 fifty cents?

I'm not even going to slam you cos they wouldn't take me due to my DAC report. But let's talk anyway. Here we go:

there recruiter brad is great at selling dreams. i was told that i would be making 1300 a week.
    - Hate to say it but that's his job. It's called the old Snake Oil pitch. "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see.” ― Benjamin Franklin. I quote that because I can tell you plain as day what Swift and Stevens Transport said to me 2 years ago. Swift: "You have the opportunity drive up to 2000 miles and make $1000 a week." Stevens: "We haven't had a layoff in 28 years. You have the opportunity to drive 2000 miles and make $1000 a week loaded or empty." Basically I got none of that in writing and the way I am is this: If I don't see it, it doesn't exist. Oh yes. They touted numbers between company driving and lease driving but it still didn't add up. Safe to say he achieved his goal of getting you there.

    1. orientation pay is paid after you do your first 5000 miles
-I didn't even get paid for orientation. Went 3 weeks without pay.Thankfully I had a job that I was paid to take off on and that's how I managed to eat. I didn't get a paycheck until I set foot on a trainer's truck.
    2. first check in the hole
-That sounds odd. But that is also how my local jobs played out. I really have no answer for this one.
    3. you cant get paid until you driver 5000 miles meaning that it will take you about an 2 wks to do
    that
-That's robbery to me. As soon as I logged on to my trainer's truck, my miles were accounted for. I got paid like I was doing the job. It wasn't much, but I saved and kept going.
    4. you have to do 3 trips to the west coast before you can request home time
-Really? That's weird too. I had to do 3 mountain ranges (2 w/o Jake brake, one with), dock on both the East and West Coast. If I was sick or had an emergency, I could request to get off and come back and pick up where I started if need be. I also was given the option of taking my 7 days off when I returned training or continuing. I chose the latter.
    5. you never get paid any detention time doesnt matter how long you sit and wait
-That's where we would fall out. I'm sitting here not earning and no detention pay? Nuh uh. Take your truck and shove it pal.
    6. there is a very rude and disrespectul dispatcher
-Gotta say "Welcome to the industry" my friend. Some dispatchers are crappy pieces of sugar honey iced tea. I'd have to ask how many dispatchers are there and a can you get into contact with another? IF so, save yourself the headache.
    7. your driver manager never answers the phone
-Been there too. My DM was also sugar honey iced tea. I wish I had learned the lessons I learned before my accident. He was irritating and grating. Even the black guys hated this dude. P.S. I am black too.
    8. you cant get your last check untill you drive 5000
-Trucking companies are petty as hell. When I was dismissed from Stevens, I went to the nearest ATM and drew all I could off of my T-Chek card. I couldn't get the 90 cents off so it stayed. They did keep the deposit for the meat lock and load lock ($110 I do believe) and came back later and drained the 90 cents from the T-Chek card. Wow. They must've really needed it.

Now I don't know your situation at all. I'm not sure if you are new or were a felon. But I will say there are better jobs out there if you research. Some local jobs don't care as long as you can do the job. Keep trying and I wish you luck @madtrucker22872.

I saw a Carolina Cargo truck leave a rest area in Kentucky just before I did yesterday. On one of the trailer doors, it said, "Did you pray today?" and I couldn't help but think, "No, not until I realized that I'll be sharing this stretch of road with one of your trucks...'

The split is 50/50 of 20 cents, but you get that whether driving or not. Team only until at least a year and only a 10% annual pay increase. So 11 cents in your second year. If I can ever finance driving school to get my cdl, I may be stuck with them as I also have a record. But first company that will pay me more/better, I'll be gone.

Splitting 20 cents per mile is obscene!

I agree. Right now I don't have my cdl and can get no prehires with my record. 14 year old non violent class c felony, minor misdemeanors that I couldn't afford to fight so pled guilty to avoid sitting 2 months waiting for a trial with a new baby.

So I'm making 0cpm, and will have to pay out of pocket for school. I'm thinking of just studying some more and watching training video on YouTube, then going to take the cdl test repeatedly and passing it on my own, because at this point I just can't afford it. Sucks, because this is definitely what I want to do and the type of lifestyle that in any other company will prevent you from getting the job. Isn't it interesting that bouncing from city to city to city in your own dime and seeing the country and loving traveling(and thus having many jobs for a short period of time) will prevent you from getting a job bouncing city to city and seeing the country lol

You'd be better off working at McDonalds, at least you'd be home everyday and you'd get free food.

@RedRover - Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of Carolina Cargo; this is your journey, not theirs.
Have you talked to the unemployment office about the WIA Program? This program, the state will pay for cdl school for the under-employed or unemployed.
Carolina Logistics has a cdl program so apply there also. Do the online application.
It's best to apply online with any of the trucking company schools, then follow with a phone call in a couple of days. This way, when you call, you can say, "I'm checking on my application for your cdl school." This gives the company something to look at and they know you've put in some effort.
Doesn't matter how good or bad the training company is because you'll only be there a few months anyway.

    Thanks

WIA works with Private third party Trucking Schools. Still all applicants are required to be "pre-hired" by at least three Commercial Carriers before the grant is approved. In Louisiana, Schools required a DOT physical be completed before starting. After completing a 160 hour course any decent training company will hire graduates as a trainee.

    Southern Refrigerated
    Stevens Transport
    KLLM / FFE

Three reefer co in the USA that have training programs that will approve a pre-hire.
