Saw two JB Hunt tractors pulling Amazon trailers today in PA. Had two look twice because I’ve never seen JB pulling them before.
Your deal sounds kind of lousy but you don’t give many details of what the 25% covers.Siinman Thanks this. -
Likely just be a disaster ending in bankruptcy before the end of the year.
I waited almost 3 years to buy my first truck and looking back I really didn’t know enough to make the move. The only reason I made it this far is because I “had” money and great credit.
Credit is still unblemished but the mountain of cash has dwindled
What really blows me away is how many are so eager to jump in right now, almost as if they’re oblivious to what’s going on in the industry.Dino soar and NorthEastTrucker Thank this. -
25% and paying the insurance (you know they will mark it up) is a pretty crappy deal.
NorthEastTrucker Thanks this. -
Similar to my situation however, I had my own Authority back in 1999 gave it up after a year as well as the older used Pete bought back then. Tons of issues now mainly with the brand new Peterbilt bought a couple years ago. I'm surviving because of my financials and a good credit score plays orher investments. I'll tell anyone who's new to this business $150k to $200k is not as much as they think it is these days especially if they don't know how to diversify those funds. If you don't have any business experience on what you're doing you will lose that in less then a year. Have plan 'C' & 'D' if needed.

Thank you all for your contributions.....how do I negotiate the deal....I need suggestions

Exactly, and I always ask twice because its needed. 25% of what?.. Alot of these carrier owners look for 'suckers' and manipulate rate cons. Multiple companies are going bankrupt thats proof regarding the chaotic behavior occurring. Even if you find out they are gyping you your might still lose $10k especially if they close shop and file bankruptcy.
I still believe in cpm, no insurance deduction the carrier covers that and tolls with a full surcharge. As well as some kinda contract customers too. There is a o/o who was signed to these guys (True North) out $40k.

Jumping in right now is just pure insanity. Starting out with only 8 months experience in a crap market the learning curve is going to hurt like hell.
At least when rates are high and everyone is doing well you can afford the cost that comes along with learning.
Not wanting to discourage people because the more independent trucking companies there are the better. Has to be putting a hurting on the big carriers.DUNE-T and NorthEastTrucker Thank this. -
There’s nothing to negotiate. No matter how you slice crap, it still stinks.
Try starting another thread asking for carrier leads to lease on with if you’re dead set on buying a truck.NorthEastTrucker and Bukaldrinio Thank this.
