I’ve had that noise for 10 yrs. it’s worse if air bags/ ride set too high. Its so occasional. I’ve thought I had it fixed at least 5 times.Level height/ shocks/ bushings/brake shoes springs/ etc. What it does is after a decent hard stop for a back up for instance. Once I start rolling slow it pops sounds terrible like rear end is toast. Sounds like serious binding. Then goes away after rolling again. I’m convinced they’re both related.Makes sense that air bags inflate some from abrupt stop, worse when shocks are old.

I changed one in about 45 minutes a couple months ago, then did it over again as I had missed installing a spacer, so 1hr 15.

I can see it taking much longer if you don't have torches and air tools, good excuse to buy some.Dino soar and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Has anyone heard of Power Products brand carrier bearing? I stopped in to get a Spicer 5003323 and they did not have one in Spicer. They had Power Products #CB something or other. I have always used Spicer Dana carrier bearing. The actual bearing has never gone out on any of the ones I have had to replaced. I replace them due to the rubber surrounding get loose around the actual bearing race.
