Your claim that it is illegal to carry a firearm in a CMV is what I take issue with... it is NOT, by virtue of being in a CMV, illegal to transport or legally carry a firearm... the rules apply to the same whether a vehicle is private or commercial... there is NO distinction or special prohibition involving CMV's... this is a MYTH that gets declared with regularity... ANY person carrying a firearm, MUST comply with all State and Local statutes... CMV's hold no special distinction... period. If it's unlawful in a POV, it would be similarly unlawful in a CMV... however, it's not the classification of the vehicle that has bearing, whatsoever, on the possession of a firearm.

I have a small 2oz can of OC spray that I keep just below the radio. I got pulled over in El Paso Texas the other day and the cops brought out the K-9 unit and they did search my truck. The officer said I looked suspicious and I told him I had nothing to hide. The dog and its handler searched my truck and gave it the thumbs up and I was on my way again. I also carry a muggers wallet. Just $10 in cash in an old wallet just in case I ever do get robbed at gun point I got something to hand over.
