I think I posted last night about this idea,
do they look like a pistol?
Yes
So they are treated as such.

ATF defines them as a "non-gun".

This thread is about tasers. -

Here is an example ...
So you pull a starter's pistol on me for what ever reason, I pull my Glock and shoot, taking you down. My liability ends with you pulling the starter's pistol first, no matter what it is - it looks like a pistol, it acts as one with a loud report and to me you are trying to kill me so I have no recourse but to shoot you to stop you. If I stopped and I said "hey is that a starters pistol" or you say "I'm going to try to scare you with this starters pistol", it may stop me but that's if I understand you or even hear you. Any way it is a very stupid move to try to use one to protect yourself because it will lead to you being hurt. -
Ok this is coming from former law enforcement. I have a personal x26 law enforcement taser as well as a glock 17 9mm and if i felt the need to carry either it would be the 9 but as stated in earlier posts check with dot or the company you work for that is what i am going to do. Just my 2 cents worth.

And if you really need something. Carry a baseball bat. But make sure u have a glove and ball. Otherwise its considered a weapon by cops

I know this was started as a taser thread but it also took a turn towards other weapons. Now go lurk elsewhere and try to belittle someone else instead of having an intelligent debate. No need to rebut otherwise unless is amicable.
