I think I posted last night about this idea,

do they look like a pistol?

    Yes

So they are treated as such.

ATF defines them as a "non-gun".

There are responses to your questions about this in the other thread you started on that subject.

    This thread is about tasers.

I asked no questions here. Therefore there is no need for you to answer anything. I was simply offering an alternative to the taser, as have many other people in this post. ie stun gun, baton, etc

But you are posting it as a statement of fact with missing more important facts. Yes you are correct, the ATF does look at them as a non-firearm but the ATF has zero control over what state and local law enforcement people consider them as when there is a motive behind their use other than starting a race or timed event. It is amazing that people try to make something alight by splitting hairs.

    Here is an example ...

So you pull a starter's pistol on me for what ever reason, I pull my Glock and shoot, taking you down. My liability ends with you pulling the starter's pistol first, no matter what it is - it looks like a pistol, it acts as one with a loud report and to me you are trying to kill me so I have no recourse but to shoot you to stop you. If I stopped and I said "hey is that a starters pistol" or you say "I'm going to try to scare you with this starters pistol", it may stop me but that's if I understand you or even hear you. Any way it is a very stupid move to try to use one to protect yourself because it will lead to you being hurt.

Ok this is coming from former law enforcement. I have a personal x26 law enforcement taser as well as a glock 17 9mm and if i felt the need to carry either it would be the 9 but as stated in earlier posts check with dot or the company you work for that is what i am going to do. Just my 2 cents worth.

The best thing you can use, and it's normally very handy .. That good ol fire extinguisher . Just give your problem a nice little shot in the face.. No problems with any law any place, as they already require this to being your truck.. Remember short bursts..

    peterbilt_2005 Thanks this.
  9. And if you really need something. Carry a baseball bat. But make sure u have a glove and ball. Otherwise its considered a weapon by cops

I hate quoting California.. But an object tapered at one end is considered a billy .. So what are those tire thumpers that you see? Or a ball bat? And itis a felony.. So yeah don't forget your glove and ball, just because your playing a little of batting practice.. Then there is a marine flair gun. A guy had one in Massachusetts .. In his back seat . Was arrested for a concealable gun. Court threw it out as a signaling device until you shoot somebody with it.. But if you are that far along to have to shoot somebody with it.. The hell with what the court thinks.

Wow, learn to read everything before you try to make an educated comment. If you did you would have noticed I recanted the CMV comment. I was only going on what I thought was correct, excuse me for making a mistake; I make them quite frequently. Unlike you from your comment, maybe we should all learn from you. Just in case you didn't get it that was sarcasm. I know the facts of transporting but not every state. I will contact a friend of mine that is on LAPD just for my own edification. No where in any post where there comments on how to transport. MD - weapon and ammo have to be in separate areas not easily accessable. NY - even traveling through and the weapon is out of sight it is chargeable as a concealed weapon.

I know this was started as a taser thread but it also took a turn towards other weapons. Now go lurk elsewhere and try to belittle someone else instead of having an intelligent debate. No need to rebut otherwise unless is amicable.
