Another term for the gut wrap is 'choke strap'... Effective securement method.

I have to add autocars method of using a strap on each side definitely helps tighten to belly wrap. But I can promise you its still loose on the bottom.

Yea, it's tough to get that part cinched up. Lots of pulling on the straps and bouncing on the winch bar.

I don't think that they go by the same name.

Gut or belly wrap is from anchor point to anchor point.

A choke would be around the load, but not anchored to any point.
I have a number of two and three inch straps and portable ratchet binders that I use to "choke" pipe and similar loads.

Makes sense.. I always called it 'choke strap' when I hauled slinkys suicide. But yeah that was from anchor to anchor.

I'd probably call what you refer to as 'choke' as 'bundle'.. But I'm strange.. :biggrin_25511:

Now 'belly strap' is what I'd do to the first layer of plastic pipe.

For me, greasy bars would be a good candidate for what my idea of a 'choke strap' would be... (plus a few bulkheads)

Yes I agree, but I also call the other method a 'belly wrap'.

Lots of belly wrapping on top of normal strapping (or chains)...

And, if you happen to be hauling drill-pipe, ALWAYS have them load with the flaired end to the rear of your trailer. With properly placed straps, this creates a bottleneck point if the pipes try to move forwards.

They are called boxes and the reason you always load drill pipe with the boxes to the back is so I you deliver to a rig and have to roll it off the pipe is the right direction for you to back into the racks. They always pick up pipe from the box end.

Maybe when they're delivering to the rig (most of my experience with drill-pipe has been in tubs), but, numerous times I have seen the OTR guys transporting pipe with it in all sorts of directions on the boxed end.
