I just realized I have been looking at the application process incorrectly. I'm sure they realize most people can't remember everything that has happened in their past, so if you do omit something and they find it and question you about, as long as you are up front and take ownership of it, I'm certain it would look a lot better than if you tried to deny it. It sounds like Carter gives you a chance to come clean if you have to. Is this a correct assumption ? I've looked over the on line app. and it seems to cover a 5-7-10 year period. I want to fill the app. out correctly, honestly, and accurately but I want to make sure I get it right the first time. Any suggestions ?

I visited Sage school in Muncie , Indiana today and spoke with Carol Antrim. Did not get a lot of info but she gave me 3 different times and days that they will have an introductory class. So will go back for the class in the next few days.

She was saying that Carter pays for half the school and the other half is paid by a grant.

She asked if the wife and I were going to be a team and I told her she is from the Philippines and has been a US citizen for 2 yrs but is just now getting her Indiana drivers license and we heard she has to have a Indiana license for 1 year before she can get a CDL .
She said she could get a Permit then her license and then her CDL with just a short wait.

Left Muncie , IN and headed for Anderson , IN and talked to a driver at the drop yard and said he just shuttles trailers from Nestle's and really likes it there.

He told me how to get to the main terminal so we went there and met up with Kelly , very nice lady , nice terminal and a lot of nice looking Volvo's.

Kelly and another lady there both agreed that my wife would have to hold a Indiana license for 1 yr before she could get a CDL .

So no team for now !

The part that I really did not get was she said we would make 21.5 cpm as team
    32 cpm solo
    So she figured 5200 miles per week , as a team would we each get paid 21.5 x2 =43 cpm x 5200 miles = $ 2236 total

    Solo 32 cpm x 2500 = $ 800

When she was doing her calculations it was like Solo 1 week maybe $ 850
    Team 1 week = $ 1150
What am I missing here ???

She said 5 weeks training and home a few times a week , I asked her about going out for 3 weeks at a time and she said they don't do that because they like everyone to have home time.

I told her I would be interested in going solo since my wife cannot get her CDL yet and asked if they had a rider plan.
She said after I drove solo for awhile then they would approve my wife to ride along for $ 25 a week , WOW $ 1200 per yr ???

If anyone knows for sure about the pay for teams please let me know , if not Kelly said feel free to call her anytime.

As soon as I go to the Sage intro class I will post again.

i dont know much about the teams. my buddy and his dad both do teams and they have both told me that they each have made $74K+ per year the past few years. i think carter gives a low ball range so when you make more, you're happy. it also depends on how much you run. if someone wants to do a 6 hour run and home every night, they are not gonna make $65k a year.

the rider program is because carter has to pay to insure that extra driver. in fact, it used to be $50 a week, so i guess they lowered that.

it may not be the best paying job, but from what everyone has told me, its the perfect outfit for beginners and many people stay there after they have experience because the company looks out for the drivers.

Kelly said the funding is there for school but not at all times. So I would need to call and see if they had the funding when I decide to start.
Also she said that you are not allowed to take the truck home. I would like to keep my truck clean on the inside and out and think it would suck to not take it home. I live about 1 hour from Anderson which ain't real far so I guess I will just deal with it .

I would assume you get assigned a tractor and can leave your stuff in there so that would not be too bad.

Does someone wash the truck while its at the terminal or is there a place you can wash your own truck there and vacuum ?

I am going to go through this thread again and check but is there anyone on here that is driving now that has input on Carter ?

How far from Carter does he live , I live in Kokomo about an hour from Anderson and the recruiter lady (Kelly) said the trucks stay there.
Would be great to be able to take the truck home or at least closer.

Thanks again, you are a big help. I always plan on being up front and will definitely be sure to tell them I'm being as honest as I can and will gladly answer for anything that may come up.

After you start you can take your truck home. Everyone that works there that I know personally take their truck home except one team, and thats just because they don't want to. Once you start, you'll know who to get permission from or whatnot. I do think that was an old rule or something. Or maybe it's a written rule not to take them home for insurance reasons or something but I do know they all get permission to take the trucks home. You see them parked all over madison county.

You get 2 free wash's a month. Not sure about the vacuum.

If you do leave your truck at the terminal, yes you keep your stuff in there. The truck is assigned to you and you alone.

That sounds better about taking the truck home , maybe like you say Kelly is just going by the old rules.

As long as you have a safe place to park.

But she did mention that a lot of deliveries you will bring back shipping containers maybe but still I think you could Bobtail to be able to clean , load and unload.

    2 free washes sounds good
