Just got back from Sage intro class , not much different than what she said earlier. She gave us a application to fill out , 3 pages. I told her I might fill it out later but just wanted to learn about the school.

Sorry not more to post on the Sage school.

She said they do a little class just to tell you about Sage and the trucking industry .

2 times a week in Muncie and 1 time a week in Anderson , just a familiarization about everything involved. Maybe 1 hour.

I am in the trainee program at Carter right now in Anderson, Indiana. I been here a week so far. They pay for you to stay in a hotel if your out of state like me. Its 1 week of Orientation and 5 weeks of training. So far I like the company and what I have seen, the plant is nice.

Are you at the Anderson, Indiana terminal? What all did they do during orientation? I begin mine on Monday (tomorrow). Any other information you can share?

I have had my Class A CDL's for about 2 yrs but I never done anything with them so had no experience when I got hired on here. All they required of me was to make sure I could pass a physical before I came here so get my DOT Physical up to date and also get my Haz-Mat endorsement. Which I did all of it, they reimburse you for your fingerprints and also give you a reimbursement for fuel/wear on vehicle. I believe its like .56 cents per mile, my fuel was about 80 bucks to come here in a truck which was an 8 hour drive from North-East Arkansas. So like 200 bucks reimbursement I got. You don't get insurance for 6 months after your hire date, which sucks but o well..lol You also do not get payed for 4 weeks. They have a 2 week hold back here. But the 2nd week they give you a check for your first week of Orientation. Then you get a check not the following week but the week after and it comes every week after that. Its a lot to push through but from what I hear from the drivers here its a great place to work. Trainee's start at 31.50 cents a mile and a 1 cent increase if you are a board runner. So I will start off at 32.50 cents per mile. Board runner is someone who doesn't know where there going from 1 day to the next, in case your just as green as I was. I believe if you have experience and your driving right now on the road they pay you like 275 for 3 days of orientation and then they get you out on the road. If your a trainee like myself then you get 375 a week for Orientation and you have 6 weeks total time to stay here. From what I am told they may let you go earlier if your getting it the hang of it fairly well. But that's hear say, no one in the front office has told me that and Kelly told me to plan on 6 weeks just to be safe. They pay for you to stay in a hotel the whole time you are here. Its nice, Best Western Plus in Anderson, Indiana. Has a hot tub and a pool. Deep side only 5ft but its still nice. They have satellite t.v. here the reception isn't that great but you get HBO 1 and HBO 2 free of charge and AMC Movie channel also. So always something on t.v. especially if your from the sticks like me and used to Antenna T.V...lol My trainer is a nice godly man he has taught me a lot in my first week, and seems to think I am a fast learner. I will be going out on the Road with another trainer this coming up Wednesday, heading down to Cantan, Mississippi if that's right. Post to be 600 miles down and 600 back. From what I understand you go through 4 trainers, 1st guy is an overview trainer he shows you how to do blind side backing and right side docking and straight line backing into docking. I just basically started Thursday doing all of that and by Friday I had it down. Now remember I haven't drove in 2 yrs so it took me till the second day to get it. If you drive recently but not much it may take you a lot less than me not sure. You can post any other questions and if I can answer them I will. Like I said before I will be here 6 weeks and so far I only finished my 1st week. Hope this helps bub.

Well for the most part you watch movies about trucking safety and pre tripping. After Wednesday at noon the experienced drivers leave and the Trainees start doing Map reading and Atlas readings. Its pretty easy for the most part. Check my reply to denniseroc for more info. After you read that just ask whatever and if I can answer it I will. Good luck and Hope you like it bub. You may see me I am not sure, you can't miss me I am the ONLY cowboy around this whole town..Yehaw
