We started out with 9, but one student went home. We now have 8. That's a pretty large class by Millis standards.josepholson Thanks this.

Day 13, Driving Group... Got to drive at night today. I was first, so I mostly got twilight.. Had a good drive through the city and out in the country some. Shifting and downshifting are progressing well. One thing I can say about driving at night, is it does challenge your depth perception. You have to take things a little bit slower and plan for the unexpected. We have another road trip to Alabama tomorrow to rap up the Driving portion.

What do you do while the others are driving?
-
It depends. In the driving group, everyone is in the truck - the training trucks have been modified with five more seats. In the backing group, some of us stay on the truck but people tend to congregate in the covered patio area that the instructor sits at while he watches the backing trucks.josepholson Thanks this.

I hold on tight.... lol. All joking aside, you can learn a lot watching someone else drive. By watching what the other 2 in my group do well, and sometimes not so well, I can adjust when I'm up there. I'm sure they can learn from my mistakes and successes as well.josepholson Thanks this.

One thing I forgot to post about our drive last night... I was driving down a back country road and a car flew by me.. then 2 Sheriff Patrols were right on his #####. I have never seen a car chase first hand like that. By they time I got to where I was going, no less than 5 cops joined the chase. lol Pretty wild. They got out of site and I'm not really sure how it ended.

Day 14
The backing group had our tests today. Two of the five of us got them all on the first shot; the other three of us (myself included) only messed up on one maneuver and we all got them on the next time around. I personally took too many pull ups on the 90 degree alley. The rest of the day was pretty much cake after that; once everyone tested out, we took a long lunch and just farted around the backing area for the rest of the day.
I'm hugely relieved that it went as well as it did. We have one day of school left - which is supposed to be a short day. Next week we start orientation. Hopefully all will go well.tntim, Shake77 and josepholson Thank this. -
Sounds great! Be sure and leave the trucks clean for my class haha! Good luck on your last day and in orientation. When do you go to DDS for the road test and which one are they taking you to?
Shake77 Thanks this. -
Day 14 Driving Group. We did a short drive to Alabama today. Practiced tight turns and turn setups. Everything went well.
Shake77 and josepholson Thank this.
