The mount i have is from a company called ftl...Its listed as a 40" cascadia antenna mount or something like that....The mirror mount part fit perfectly on the backside of the mirror of a 2016 cascadia but not the front side without some fileing where it bolts on..Based on the mfj 259b,better #'s came from the angled setting..I also had to scrape off the paint and add a few washers to have more metal connection from bolt holes..

    Neverready and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

I tried something similar to that with a Wilson 2000. My results were not that great. What I have now works as good as any radio I've ever ran in a truck. (see pics on pg 4)

Mike the only difference is the top load antenna...I dont like the idea of vicegrips on my mirror like what isee in pics..I am looking for a 6-7 footer in my travelsbut no one seems to carry them..
The bracket is almost the same just that i have a 40" inch shaft then my antenna mounts to top of shaft..My predator is more a mid load than top load like the firestick or skip shooter

Yeah when i find me a 6-7 foot, ill get some of that stiff pastic water line and cut it to fit the 1st few feet to add strength to the base and help stop sway.....Im sure when the heavy snow/ice drops it will make it top heavy..

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

I slip seat or I would have a better support mount. And it is possible you don't need one like volvo244t says. (my skipshooter is really limber, it is highly likely that the firestick is stiffer) I made one trip without a brace and had a driver I met on a two lane hollar at me and say my antenna was in his lane! It really wasn't, but it leaned out passed the mirror at the top, which is a good thing. When I checked my SWR I moved the antenna around. the SWR got considerably higher the closer I moved it toward the cab, but it didn't change at all when I pushed the antenna right up against the back of the mirror. I just got home and ran my set up on a 2015 Freightliner this time. I didn't have any problem being heard in W. Memphis. Talked to an oil field worker who said we were about 15 miles apart and he said I sounded like I was in the cab with him.....I could just barely hear him. My set-up works very well IMHO.
