I'll see if I get to Memphis to pick one up. I may have to go 6 feet to keep out of the bridges! Lol

Ray’s in West Memphis by Petro sells the 6’ skipshooter for around $27. It will be plenty for you on a midroof, just put some 3/4 inch pvc tube at the bottom to keep it from flexing too far back. I run the same antenna and it performs quite well. 70 mile contacts to base stations daily, sometimes 100 miles on a barefoot General Lee. It has the best hearing of any fiberglass antenna I’ve ever run, probably better than my Predator 10k also.h82bbad Thanks this.

I'd like to see that. 80 miles seems to be my best trip from a mobile running a DX1600v.

I could hear people from all over when the skip was going .but I doubt they could hear me! That was with the stock antenna. But it took a crap on me and my radio was saying swr of 9 .changed to the Wilson and it was still 3.9

60-70 miles is pretty easy, and we are talking about a radio that was tuned by Radioactive. Its really loud, although it probably is dirty.
These guys are on every morning, about 20-30 people starting at 3am-5am. Some base stations, some mobiles. WW just west of Philadelphia talks to me in Winona Ms when I am headed north, that's about 60 miles and he is 8db. I heard him to Sardis Ms the other day although he was pointed south. That's about 125 miles.
Its tough being 60-70 miles away and they all point south talking to each other but I get in on the side of their antennas. I don't even get to ground plane off the trailer since they are to my east and I'm headed north. -
Listening on a mobile antenna to someone on a base antenna from that distance is easy. Transmitting from a mobile antenna and being heard on his base antenna from that distance would be the tricky part. I've never done that.

I talked from Vaiden, Ms to Crystal Springs, Ms on Thursday. It was right at 100 miles. I was telling one station (Road Agent in Longview, about 50 miles) that I could hear the other station (3 watt in Crystal Springs). He (3 watt) said I can hear you too, Shogun. We talked for about a minute before a few other stations came in there.
If WW had pointed north that day I could have talked to him from Sardis about 125 miles. If I can hear them I can usually reach them. When I run up 55 north I always have to contend with them facing away. When I run up Hwy 25, I get in amongst them easier.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I thought I settled this at least a couple of years ago.........???? This is even the right thread!! Kind of long though, I must admit........rabbiporkchop and slim6596 Thank this.
