In a later post in this thread, I saw where you switched to what looks like an oil filled coil antenna. How is that working for you versus the 7 ft firestick? Also, have you ever tried the mount on the passenger side door?
    Thanks

I use shrink tubing when I build mine.
    Seems to help.
I even compared a stainless 102 vs a shrink tube covered 102 and noticed a difference.
Both 102's were identical except one was covered entirely in shrink tube.
The noise difference between the two antennas was not noticeable with a stock Cobra 148 but was easily noticeable with my Fine-Tuned Magnum S9

    Mike,
I am still looking for antenna Eutopia on the 2011 Cascadia. After buying Sirio, Francis, and 6 ft Firestick (stable enough with no support on ss bird perch) Have not tuned FS as of yet and seems to be around 2+ swr. Just ordered 6 ft skipshooter will update after install. Have you ever tried mounting antenna on passenger side door?
    Thanks

I had to go to 7ft to get where I wanted to be. I can get by with a 5ft on 19, but 7ft is better and a lot more broad banded........I occasionally go to the lower channels.

    jyorkd1 Thanks this.

    .

    I'M getting swr's of .25 :1 on channels 1 through 40 consistently.
I'm using Cobra 29LX peaked and tuned. Browning BR29 Antenna on a 2 bolt mirror mount polished not coated for a solid ground. 18 ft. Heavy duty coax cable. Lift hood and run coax thru the fire wall at the passenger side floor. There is a rubber plug that pops out. Cut an x in the center of the plug. Run coax thru that. I'M getting swr so .25:1 on channels 1 through 40 consistently.

Rabbi..You said you shrink tubed your ant..Did you do the entire ant,tip to base or just base..
I was wondering if i should spray from static ball to ant base or all the way down to the mount at the mirror.. 20151121_101956.jpg
