So both ant brackets that are connected to mirror arm bracket cant be grounded to truck..
So nylon washers on both sides of mirror arm bracket bolts and the rest as per normal?? -
Waiting on @volvo244t for his setup. But it looks like you could insulate just the bird perch from the clamps with some rubber sheet or thin polyethylene.
-
I thought that as well..Only prob with that is the clamp force of ant mount to the mirror arm mount..
I saw a cpl pics volvo244 had but it was ages ago..Memory is crap.. -
The insulator above doesn't actually do anything other than serve as a spacer so the bolt doesn't bottom out in the stud before it's tight to the mount. A "just in case" thing.slim6596 Thanks this. -
I dont see any isolation there at all
-
This reminds me, I need to get my new stainless steel bird perch mounted... but that'll come after i get done fighting with this #@$O*()*&@#$ drive clone attempt (trying to get put my SSD in the new laptop without reinstalling win 7.)
-
There is nothing isolated... as I said above it's not. The insulator I'm talking about is white and is visible if you look up close. I just used it as a spacer so the bolt doesn't bottom out in the stud before tight to the mount as mentioned.
-
Based strictly on that pic i could mount an ant on the bottom end of my 40"shafted mirror mount but point it downwards??
-
If there was a place to do it. Doesn't look like there is, though... I've already commented on that, however. The low mounting point on this truck allows you to use a longer, more efficient antenna... so why would you want to spend more money to mount a short, less efficient antenna?
My longest skip contacts have been with the 7' Firestik and my frankenstein oil-coil antenna that had 47" of shaft under it. And really, the two contacts I made with the latter were more impressive, because I did them with my barefoot Q5-tuned 29... the longest contact (southeastern upstate NY - British Columbia) was using the Stryker.lilillill Thanks this.
