It is the length of the half of a wire dipole. It is wrong. The number is 103.3 for resonance at 27.2

    Craig, please read this

    http://www.k0bg.com/wiring.html

Read the section about ground loops and myths.

    Then read this

    http://www.k0bg.com/ground.html

    Especially the last paragraph

    Then this

    http://www.k0bg.com/match.html

See it seems the idea of a dipole can work but rabbi and you don't get what makes one work. I am not trying to confuse you but read what links I put up. Look at your setup using what he said like how many straps are there and think simplicity.

My radio is wired with 12 ga wire to the firewall where power from battery and ground from chassie/starter meet...
I dont get much noise except when i hit my high beams with the hid kit i have in it or when i plug in my gps to charge..I found a way around that part..I do notice a lil drop off when i hit my brakes after running awhile but i got graphite for that..
I understand the idea of metal mass under the ant not along side ect ect..
Im sure im missing the point but tks..

    tucker Thanks this.

Doesnt matter...I cant get it anywhere near what it should be..
Based on memory my swr was around 7-10 between 26.965-27.405,my R was about 7 and x was around 3 or 4..
Like i said i dont have two of same ant to tune equally so i just tried with the two that i could tune..
I just dont know enough to diagnose or fix my issues..Every now and then i get told to just do this or just buy that...Hell it took me almost a full day 1/2 tank of gas a cpl slices of pizza to find rubber washers(plumbing supplys in a hardware store)and 30 grams of graphite...Cost me a freakin fortune to get all that....So when i get told to just buy this and do that i get a lil cranky cause of the time wasted on crap thats not working or will not work..
Ex....the wilson mirror arm mount,it got flung in the woods cause i got so annoyed how nothin worked mounted to it..The 4.5 foot fibreglass with the wired tip is out with the wilson mirror arm mount in the woods somewhere....
So after my 7 footers are bought...Any other ideas that work need to be proven on vid for me to see before ill try ANYTHING ELSE..Not wasteing any more time and $$ on the usual phrase ("well try this and go buy that bs")
Today i spent almost $30 just on ss nuts, bolts, washers for my ant mount that i wire brushed clean..
